7 Benefits of Water Play For Your Child

‘Water play’, for many present day families, has pronounced itself as one the most pivotal and beneficial parts of your child’s integral development.

And even though it’s a crucial attribute, it isn’t necessarily too austere or stern to apply and see to. In fact, for people who aren’t really aware of what water-play is, it is only an open-ended plethora of all sorts of activities involving water. Or more simply put, ’playing with water’.

What Makes it an Agreeable Approach?

The human body is made up of 60% H2O and according to H.H. Mitchell’s Journal of Biological Chemistry 158, the heart and the brain are composed of 73% water and the lungs are about 83%. Gravity and body weight impacts the way our bodies move. Doing activities under water reduces ͒strain on the human body by eliminating almost 90% of our weight. Thus, allowing children and adults to ambulate freely that didn’t press undue stress on the musculoskeletal system from physical forces such as gravity and body weight. So, naturally the benefits of water exercises are quite extensive, not only for children but for adults too.

But let’s be more specific in our approach while addressing health benefits of water play in children or toddlers.

What Are The Benefits?

1. Provides Balance and Strength

Balance and Strength

When you introduce the younger ones to the pool, it is like a whole new play area for them. There have been accounts by parents confirming that their kids developed better control over their movements when in the house pool. Also, another interesting thing to note is that we are also granting our children a free space where they can experiment without worrying about falling or crashing into hard surfaces.

2. Aids Whole Body Conditioning

Body Conditioning

Water provides built-in resistance by allowing your kids more intense workouts than what are able to do on land. Even simple tasks like walking or running burn more calories in water. For maximum impact, swimming in styles like freestyle, breaststroke and backstroke provide whole body workouts by using all of the major muscle groups at one time.

3. Helps Build Better Body Coordination

Build Better Body Coordination

Water play helps to further develop muscles and your child’s motor skills and helps improve coordination. Kicking movements engage the core, and can help children learn how to coordinate both sides of their body to move through the water. When your kid is playing games in the pool, learning how to dance, or practicing any movement in water they’re developing coordination.

4. Less Injury Concern

Concern

Developing a resistance to water helps enhance body awareness, which assists with maintaining proper posture and a sense of just movement within space during any activity.

5. Develops Communication and Social Skills

Social Skills

Water play in a pool allows your children to experience interaction with each other kids, cousins, neighbors. Garnering new experiences and discovering new things and emotions within a shared space offers a great opportunity for your kids’ social development. This episode of self-discovery can be aided by letting them play with interactive pool games.

6. Setting Sights on Exploration and Learning

Water Play

Even though playing in water can be a great physical exercise for your kids, it is important to remember to never let children play in or nearby water unsupervised. Don’t let them play with toys that are made of harmful plastics, search the net to find loads of water-based games that your ids can play in the pool. Like the one in this link.

7. Good for your Child’s and Your Cardiovascular Health

Cardiovascular Health

For us grown-ups, simply being in the water is known to reduce high blood pressure by relaxing the blood vessels so that they can carry more blood while presenting less resistance to the heart. Water play also reduces mental stress, which is good for your overall cardiovascular well-being.
